The GEO analytics firm observed that reddit.com maintained an average of 3.83% in ChatGPT Search citations from July 18 to August 7. This share then decreased to an average of 0.52% from August 14 to August 17, marking an 86.4% relative decline.

Whoever.............. is running the executive ideas of Reddit . The policing of reddit. Etc. I'd think they are under pressure from a lot of decisions going sour.

Reddit must have some seriously exciting news coming about how they will replace Google and become OpenAi/ChatGPT on their own

Oh yeah they are going through a lot of decisions

Unfortunately I think their 2 year gold period is coming to an end.
If AI companies drop them they will go back being niched forum as it was 5+ years ago instead of mainstream social media network.
Google after striking the partnership with reddit started heavily boosting the visibility and indexing of reddit posts, which in turn boosted reddit a looot. They grew like crazy in 2024-2025 like doubled users and views.
So if they do not renew the contract boosting will most likely stop, though I might be wrong.

could also be because they have successfully scraped everything they needed from reddit, and can now just use their own internal files

Hahah yeah "don't be sad because it is over, smile because it happened" type thing.
But nah on the serious note, it is not over yet we will still benefit from it in next few years I am pretty sure. Just maybe slightly less so than before, but who knows.
The only real thing I worry about is if they introduce ID verification on registration (which is more and more popular topic in world right now it seems), then I am not sure what will happen and how it will be circumvented.
All in all I've had so many ups and downs with reddit over the last 8-9 years where I truly thought it was over just to bounce back stronger than ever so don't lose hope. I am sure you've had your own ups and downs during the years.
