What strategy and actions do you choose to increase keyword rankings in Google?

If your keyword for which you want to rank at the top is ranked in position 22, and you want a top-5 position, what strategy and what steps will you take to get into the top-5?

If a keyword is sitting around position 22, I will take it as a good sign besides you have got some relevance already, so wouldn’t start from scratch. I'll focus on strengthening the existing content.
 
It certainly depends on you broader strategy, just content is not answer to be in the top 3. Indeed 22nd position does make you a contender to be in top 3 now you need to do what champions do. Test seo day in and day out something will not work, somethings will work.
 
I would conduct an analysis of the top 5 competitors as well as search intent and work on improving the content of the page, on page SEO, internal linking, and backlinks.
 
If a page is sitting around 22 i would take that as a good starting point since google already sees it as relevant. Instead of just adding more words i would figure out why the pages above it are performing better then improve the areas that matter most such as content quality internal links, authority and overall user experience. From there, i would track the results, test different changes, and keep adjusting based on what the data tells me.
 
am still learning but. i have noticed if you edit the page to have intent not just keyword it improves.
 
If the page is already ranking at 22, I’d focus on improving what is already working instead of making major changes. I’d check search intent, compare the page with the current top results, improve any content gaps, and strengthen the site’s internal linking. Then I’d give the changes some time and judge them from impressions, clicks, and ranking movement.

I’d analyze the top 5, improve the page’s content and search intent, strengthen internal links, earn relevant quality backlinks, and optimize CTR. Then I’d monitor GSC and refine until the page moves into the top 5.

Then improve the page where it's weaker, add relevant internal links, and build a few quality backlinks. After that, monitor GSC and rankings for a few weeks before making more changes.
