What's harder getting the first views or keeping viewers watching?

Interested to hear what creators think is currently the biggest challenge when growing a channel.

The hardest part is usually getting that initial click; once you have attention, good content can keep people watching.

for me getting the click is only half the battle. Keeping viewers watching is harder, strong retention means the content actually delivered on the title and thumbnail.

Imo, getting the first views is probably easier than keeping people watching.

A good hook can get the click, but retention comes down to whether the video actually delivers and keeps the viewer curious.
 
I’d say building an initial audience for your content is more difficult, once you have that momentum going it’ll be easier to grow since the algorithm will start pushing your videos as well.
 
I’d say keeping their attention is harder. You can attract your first viewers with a great topic or one viral video. But getting people to keep coming back to your channel again and again is much more difficult.
 
Staying engaged is more difficult you get the click but how do Tou keep people coming back?.
 
Definitely keeping them watching imo, getting the first views is mostly about the hook, but retention is where the real game is.

Getting views on a fresh/new channel is more difficult in my opinion.
 
I think getting the first views is easier than keeping viewers watching A strong title can earn the click but good pacing and delivering on the promise are what keep people engaged.
 
Getting the initial click relies on packaging but sustained retention is where most channels struggle long-term. You can easily optimize thumbnails and titles to trigger initial interest but if your pacing drops within the first 30 seconds, You tube algorithm stops testing the video with wider audiences high click-through rates get people through the door but strong average percentage viewed is what actually builds long-term distribution.

the first opinion are not easy to come by, but IMO it is the latter opinion where the difficult part lies in getting people to actually watch all the way through. the click-through are easy, the watch-throughs require quality.
 
Keeping viewers engaged is much harder and attracting the first impression is only part of it/
 
A catchy title and thumbnail can easily bring initial clicks, but if your retention drops in the first 30 seconds, the algorithm kills the reach every time.
 
a good thunbnail gets you the first click, but keeping viewers is really hard, youtube is one of the hardest platforms to get views and followers in my opinion. am still trying to figure it out

Keep the viewers hooked 100 percent. With any gud thumbnail and clickbait title you will be able to secure the first click easily but when ur retention rate falls after 30 seconds you were dead.

It is generally much easier to get your initial impressions than to hold on to them. while you can pays for the initial attention with a strong opening, holding ur audience till the end is quite challenging.
 
A punchier title , good content retention , right time to post means riding on trend , lean on boosting algorithm the most hardest part I think to maintain.

I’d say keeping viewers watching is harder. Getting those first views is mostly about having a good topic, title, and thumbnail, but actually keeping people interested throughout the video is much more challenging. That’s what really helps YouTube keep recommending your content ;)
