Some posts get hundreds of replies while others disappear completely even when the topics are similar. What makes you want to join a conversation of just scrolling past?
What makes a post worth replying to?

A post gets replies when answering it costs one line and the answer says something about the person answering. Anything complete gets read and scrolled, because there's nothing left to add. The ones that pull people in leave a gap, a number worth disagreeing with, or a decision half made. Similar topics differ on that, not on the topic.

i usually join when the post feels relatable or gives me something interesting to say. If it’s too generic or did not focus my attention, I'll probably just scrolling past.

Yeah ragebaiting posts work extremely well. In Nixon's words : “Always remember, others may hate you, but those who hate you don’t win unless you hate them—and then you destroy yourself.”

The posts that don't get relevant engagements, does not resound with the audience hence they attract the scroll along effect. A post worth engaging is relatable or downright against public interests hence the need to put you aright.
emotion or curiosity. if a tweet makes someone feel smart for answering, offended, or curious to learn more, they'll reply. boring informational posts get likes at best, but discussions are driven by hot takes or incomplete stories that force people to weigh in.

x does not limit ragebait posts, even when they get a note. they're less strict about controversial topics so i would roll with it, everyone on X also just seems to be happy to ragebait everyone else for no reason
