I usually check the page, serp competitors, search intent, technical or indexing issues, internal links, and recent backlink changes first. This helps identify the real cause before making any seo changes.

Before making any changes I look at Search Console to understand whether the traffic loss is limited to one page or happening across the site. I then review the search data, competitors, intent, and possible technical problems.
 
Google search console gives you live data check if there are errors or problems in Google Search console and fix them all using claude code codex opencode tools like that. If all the issues are fixed use SEO tools like semrush, seobility seo checker seo frog to see all the errors give the errors to ai and let ai fix the errors for you.

Keep tracking daily google search console and dont think in seo as a trick think it has a user if your website is providing value.

Step by step if everything is right about your site and you fixed all the errors of the page your page will be higher then ever ;).
 
I usually check Search Console first and see which keywords lost clicks or rankings. Then I decide if the page needs changes.
 
Sure, I check it first. Usually just look at clicks and impressions to see what changed.
 
I compare the last 28 days with the previous period and check queries, impressions, average position, CTR, country and device. Then I verify indexing, canonical selection, internal links and recent template, DNS or hosting changes. If impressions are stable but CTR fell, rewriting the entire page may solve the wrong problem.

So do I. The symptyom can be seen in Google Search Console, but the explanation lies in the page and the analytics. It is my prefereence to use both of them before making any major SEO decision.

Same process applies here too. I first check if it is page,specific or site,wide, and then check for changes in query or position. It is always better to identify the problem first rather than making any changes to the content/links.
 
Yep, Search Console is usually my first stop. I compare queries, impressions, clicks, CTR, and average position against the previous period. Then I check competitors/SERP changes before touching the page sometimes the page isn’t the problem.
 
Sometimes checking out your competitors' ads might give you some new ideas. If it's just a drop in traffic, you could try switching providers.

Yes, Search Console is invariably my first stop. I examine the specific page to determine whether overall impressions declined or merely clicks. A drop in impressions typically signals an algorithm shift.
 
I usually check the queries first then compare the page with what’s ranking now Sometimes the search intent has shifted even if the page itself hasn’t changed

the same here, especially the changes in queries, in some cases, the problem is not even with the page itself; it has simply become relevant for another kind of query.
 
Checking GSC first is useful, look at clicks, impressions, queries & average position, then compare the period with previous data before making changes, this helps avoid changing a page based only on a temporary traffic drop

Exactly That’s why I prefer checking the new queries first before making any changes to the page

Yes always, first thing i chck actually. If a page is already getting impressions/clicks for certain queries
i make sure not to accidentally kill that by changing the focus keyword or rewriting sections
that are working. Seen ppl improve a page based on gut feeling and loose rankings they didn't even know they had bcoz they never checked what was already working before touching it.
