For sustainable YouTube growth, consistency matters, but understanding viewer behavior can make an even bigger difference. A strong title and thumbnail can earn the click, while valuable content and solid retention help keep viewers engaged. Which performance metric do you consider most important when deciding what to improve in your next video?

Long term sustainable growth depends on the Value you provide, how valuable are your videos and it means in terms of maybe educational or entertaiment value.....The step to initially grow is thumbnails, that is literally the gateway to your videos, however if you want dedicated audience, returning viewers, then your channel should have some kind of deep value that resonates with viewers, it maybe the way you narrate the videos, it maybe the ideas you present in the video etc etc.

i would concentrate on both of those metrics in conjunction. in case viewers stay and watch the whole video it means that people find ur content engaging. afterward i would utilize the click through rate to determine whether the content needs better packagging.

Strong hooks definitely. Without them nobody will watch and one will just upload videos on YT only for uploading them, without them, being watched xD.

Carefully analyze the audience retention graph to pinpoint the exact minute viewers exit, allowing you to cut out unnecessary segments and adjust the video's narrative for subsequent videos.

All the focus should be on content. Other techniques like tags just support it.

I think consistency matters but the biggest factor is making content people actually want to watch Good retention and giving viewers a reason to come back seem more important than simply uploading more often

really important is hook without it most people just scroll away.you can keep uploading videos to youtube but if opening does not catch attention then they may just sit there without anyone really watching them.

tbh looking at ctr alone can be super misleading because it depends so much on impressions. if yt only shows the video to core subscribers the ctr will look great, but once it goes wider it drops. in my opinion returning viewers is a really underrated metric... if you aren't getting people to come back then even a high retention on one video isn't going to build a channel long term.

honestly ctr and retention are kinda useless if you dont look at where the traffic is coming from. search ctr is always gonna look way different than browse. but if i had to pick one to obsess over it's probably retention in the first 30 seconds... if you lose half the audience right away the rest of the video doesnt even matter no matter how good the packaging was.

The most simple and boring advice is the most effective one for YT, stay consistent with your content output. As long as there’s a bit of traction in terms of views, the algorithm will start pushing you eventually.

For me, it helps to start with what people actually want to know. If the topic solves a real problem, the video usually has a better chance of doing well.

I believe two metrics are the most important: click-through rate and completion rate.

Listen to your audience’s feedback and use it to continuously improve your video content. Respecting your viewers is one of the best ways to build a loyal audience and grow your YouTube channel steadily and sustainably.

returning viewers are important. videos might get many clicks but when the next video gets uploaded nd viewers return again then it is clear that an audience is being formed. it will also help figure out what kind of content is worth creatting more of.

I do care about the loyal audience tbh. only one video might be fortunate but those who come back for the subsequent uploads will tells me that the channel is growing.

In my opinion audience retention is more important than that of percentage of viewed. CTR tells us the title and thumbnails are clicking by the audience but the retention can inform us about the actual delivery of video on promise. I especially observed that point where viewers drop off. If the audience click and leave the video instantly then I will work on intro, pacing of content. In other case if they click and watch for long time then I will work to improve the title and thumbnail.
