Not talking abt the usual " not relevant enough" stuff more like the random specific reasons that actually caught
you off guard
had one recently where the site said no bcoz my outline was" " too listicle's-Y for their editorial style which was fare honestly but not something expected to hear.

I've seen is a pitch getting rejected because the title sounded too “SEO-written”—the editor basically said it felt like it was created for Google rather than their readers.
 
Sure, some unexpected cases of editorial reasons, rejection due to style preferences. So what are these best backlinks about, that they can be described by high-value relevance?

Had one where the content was good and relevant, but they rejected it because they didn't like how the information was organized. nothing was really wrong with the content itself , it just didn't match the structure they preferred for their readers.

That was surprising because the issue was more about their editorial preference than the quality of the article.
