One interesting thing about LinkedIn is that the posts I expect to perform well aren't always the ones that receive the most engagement.

Sometimes a simple personal experience can outperform a carefully researched industry post.

Has anyone else noticed this?

What type of content has unexpectedly performed well for you?

Was it a personal story, controversial opinion, practical tutorial, failure, industry observation, or something completely different?

Same here – my most viral post was just a short story about a project I messed up. Turns out people crave authenticity over perfectly polished insights.

Indeed, that is my true feeling as well. personal blogs get more comment as people relate to them, and professional blog can come across as just being “content.”

Practical lessons have performed unexpectedly well for me, especially when they solve a common problem in a simple and relatable way.

Definitely. Simple personal posts often beat polished content. People connect with real experiences more than perfectly written industry posts.

Even just sharing funny moments from everyday life is great as long as it resonates with readers. Sometimes, even professionally polished posts only attract people from the relevant industry.

absolutely right. it happens sometimes that the posts that have the least strategy involved receive maximum attention. the lessons learned from an experience or mistakes made become far more understandable than the polished industry content. the engagement on linkedIn becomes very unppredictable.

yeah I’ve seen that too the posts that feel like someone just shared a real thought often get more attention than the polished ones
