There is a big difference between a subreddit that simply contains posts and a subreddit that actually feels like a community.

What creates that difference?
Is it regular members recognizing each other, inside discussions, helpful responses, recurring events, moderators interacting with users, shared interests, or something else?

If you had to identify three things that make people feel like they genuinely belong to an online community, what would they be?

Honestly I think genuine posts and less ai generated slop. Genuine interactions and conversations.

this occurs to me in places where there exists some form of recognition nd communication goes beyond just answering. culture nd moderation, in small dose, play a vry significant part.

For me, it comes down to people feeling heard, familiar names showing up and having a reason to come back.

People actually talking to each other, regular members who keep coming back, and good moderation. If people feel comfortable posting and know they’ll get real replies, it starts feeling like a community instead of just a page full of posts.
