SMM services are interesting because you can build social proof in a very short amount of time. I have 4 Instagram pages where I bought around 10K–40K followers on the first day of creating them, and then never posted anything for the past 1-2 years.

Now I'm starting to create content. I've invested a lot in high-quality content, but the algorithm doesn't seem very friendly with these accounts. A few of my friends started completely fresh accounts in the last few weeks and they get a lot more views and engagement, while I sometimes get fewer than 10 engagements. Account Status shows everything is normal.

In situations like this, the typical advice is:

Delete the page and start fresh
Use Trial Reels/posts
Remove the fake followers
Run ads

These are basically the same answers you get everywhere, even from ChatGPT.

But what I really want to know is: has anyone here actually had experience bringing back a dead account with thousands of fake followers and getting its organic engagement back to something close to a fresh account?

I have this situation on different platforms:

YouTube: around 5K subscribers
TikTok: around 10K followers
Instagram: accounts with 10K–50K followers

I'm mainly interested in hearing from people who have actually dealt with this situation and managed to recover the account, rather than the usual theoretical advice.

honestly fake followers tank your account with the algo, takes atleast 3-4 weeks of pure organic engagement to recover if you post consistent high quality content. ive run through this on ig and tiktok, the accounts come back but you gotta treat them like new for a bit, no spammy engagement pods or shortcuts this time

the reason is the first push always goes to your own followers, and bots dont watch anything. so retention on that first batch is basicly zero and the algo stops pushing right there. fresh accounts dont have that problem cause they get tested straight on cold audience. what worked for me was removing the fake ones slowly, like 200-300 a day not all at once, and only posting stuff that can pull reach from non followers. watch the non follower % in insights, if it stays under 20 after a month the page is not coming back

I think you should get actual engagement from Reels to bury the fake followers. What actually worked for me was treating it like a brand new account. We switched to Reels only, posted twice a day for about two weeks, and ignored the feed posts.

You need to remove the bot followers, steadily but not very fast (in order to avoid getting shadowbanned). After that you can upload your videos to youtube/tiktok/ig in order to get more reach and followers.
