I've been testing different video formats but the results are pretty random. would be interested to hear what's actually working for others.

Yeah the algos are pretty random lately. if you are doing short form 9:16, the split screen format with mobile gameplay or satisfying clips on the bottom is still pulling the best retention for affiliate stuff. sounds dumb but it works. also try speeding up your voiceovers to like 1.1x or 1.2x... people swipe away so fast now. if you don't have a visual cut or a text hook in the first 1.5 seconds the video is basically dead anyway.
The voiceover speed tip is interesting. I've mostly been focusing on the visuals so I might test that too.

i have observed the same thing too. the shorter the video and the better the opening shot is within a few seconds seems to work for me although it still depends a great deal on the subject matter nd auddience.

hooks are still most important thing that you can do well. after that it's all about editing and storytelling

"Algorithm changes keep everyone on their toes. Testing different content formats usually helps figure out what works best."

Format matters less than whether the video delivers something worth watching even a simple format can perform well if the pacing keeps people interested.

Format is just one advantage for your video. If you want a viral video, content is still the most important thing.

To me straight forward videos with an appealing hooks have been trumping overlly edited content. i also learned that consistency was more important than trying to goes viral.

You need strong hooks in order to drive more eyeballs/traffic to your videos.

I’d compare formats based on retention and shares, not just views. Sometimes a format gets fewer views but brings better engagement, so I’d test the same topic in a few different formats before deciding what actually works.

tbh i have found myself having better results when those first two seconds has some direction rather than trying to do everything perfectly in the entire video. retention becomes more important than one winning formats.

Testing different hooks while keeping the same core topic has helped me figure out what my audience responds to.

Videos which were short and have an impressive introduction in the initial few seconds have proven to be more consistent. Secondly content which looks organic always performs better than the something that looks extremely polished or like an advertisement.

I’ve had this happen too. The rejection reason isn’t always very helpful.

truthfully the most significant change for me was making videos that were native to tiktok rather than advertisements. simple videos works really well when the rhythm is just right and there is some thing that motivates u to continues watching.

Trending sounds help, but good storytelling and keeping people watching seem to make the biggest difference.

I usually focus on a specific topic that I’m passionate about and put a lot of effort into creating polished, high-quality content. I’ve found this approach to be quite effective.

i used hooks with higher color saturation. i clip small 3 second segment from inside the video that i think is interesting, then turn up the color saturation, and brightness for that intro clip, it seems to draw in more eyeballs even though those settings would likely not work for the whole video

I’ve found the best results come from testing one format at a time and watching retention rather than judging by views alone. Once you see a pattern that works keep building around it.
