I'm curious to hear from indie developers and marketers who have actually tested YouTube gaming creators.

For a small indie game with a limited marketing budget, do you think a 30–60 second gameplay integration inside a creator's regular video can work well?

I'm especially interested in:

• How you choose the right creator
• Whether you focus on subscribers or average video views
• Whether audience country matters for you
• What kind of results you normally track after the promotion

Have you tried this type of promotion for your game? What was your experience?

Yes it can work well if the creator has a relevant gaming audience I’d focus more on average views audience fit and engagement than subscriber count and track clicks installs wishlists and sales after the promotion

Thanks! I agree, especially with focusing on average views and audience fit rather than subscriber count.

I also think tracking clicks and installs after a campaign is important because it gives a much better picture of whether the promotion actually worked.

Do you think a 30–60 second gameplay integration inside a creator's regular video is usually better for an indie game than a full dedicated sponsored video?

I think short gameplay integrations can work better for indie games because they feel more natural inside the creator’s usual content and can reach viewers without feeling like a full advertisement.

I’d prioritize average views and, more importantly, genre/audience fit over subscriber count. A smaller creator whose audience already plays your type of game can outperform a huge general gaming channel.

For tracking, I’d use a unique link/code and watch wishlists, store visits, sales/downloads, and cost per conversion. There are some indie dev case studies showing surprisingly strong wishlist spikes from well-matched creators.

Yes, Editing together dramatic game highlights for posting is highly effective if you are reaching the right audience interested in your content.

Subscriber count can be misleading. I had always look at average views, engagement and whether the creator audience's actually matches the game.
