I was reading an article recently about the changes in EU. And saw that the DuckDuckGo has been gaining a huge following in the EU. After digging more into it, I found out that it was pushed by the EU over Google. If that is the case, how would it affect the SEO industry??

Do you have a link to where an official EU body is pushing DDG?

I am also curious about where this come from. to my knowledge, the EU rules have something to do with competition nd user choice rather than DDG vs. google.

If the entire Europe adopts DDG today, beating googles reach and SEO record won't be possible. Although having another competitor in the industry is a welcome development.

I think the EU is mostly trying to give people more options not necessarily pushing DuckDuckGo instead of Google still those choice screens might help other search engines get noticed more when it comes to SEO it is probably a good idea to pay attention to where traffic is coming from not just Google especially if more people start using other search engines

Not exactly. The EU is mainly pushing for more choice in search engines. If DuckDuckGo grows, SEO could become less Google focused.

Not really pushing DuckDuckGo specifically. The EU is more about giving users a choice instead of having Google as the default everywhere.

That can help DDG, Ecosia, Qwant etc. get more users, but Google is still way ahead. For SEO I’d watch it, but I wouldn’t change strategy around it yet.

I think it’s worth separating regulation from actual user adoption. Even if EU rules create more competition for Google, the SEO impact would depend on whether people actually switch search engines at scale.

Its fake news, EU got strict privacy laws, but they are not going to openly push a single company. They are not that stupid.

EU isn’t really pushing DuckDuckGo specifically, it’s pushing more choice and less Google dominance. if alternatives keep gaining users then yeah SEO will eventually need to care, but Google is still way too big to ignore

SEO is dead, no matter of the which browser. Less and less people search things, they all use social media and super apps.

You will get less and less traffic no matter what u do.
