Something that hasn't been mentioned is using copywriting frameworks instead of just trying to write "articles." If you want people to actually stay on the page, look up open loops. You basically hint at a major payoff or a secret early in the text but don't reveal it until later... it forces them to keep scrolling. Also check out the PAS formula. Problem, agitate, solve. If you spend the first few paragraphs making them really feel the pain of the problem they searched for, they will read your solution even if the writing itself is kinda average. Copywriters do this all the time because it works.
