Factors affecting a trust in a proxy provider

When I look at different proxy providers, all of them claim to be the fastest and the most reliable.
But, what factors make you trust this or that provider? Responsive support, trial version, money for nothing? What I am asking is what makes you recommend providers to your friends and buy their services yourself?

Mostly is marketing, and nowadays recommendations come from experience rather than reading the provider's landing page.

things such support responsive, trial data for the testing, network speed and up-time, ip quality (fraud scores very low) wheather or not the user experienced some phantom data consumption, good price.
 
1. Real IPs from real networks (not any of this new "static residential" nonsense you see these days, those are just spammy blocks routed via residential providers within a datacentre, easy to catch)
2. Good performance/stability

The rest rarely matters. How often will you use support? Hardly once a year with the right provider.
 
Should I go and pay a bill for $12 + tax? In today's world, of course not, my friend. I'd rather get a $3 VPS and prevent anyone else from watching me. I'd create a VPN for my home computer, my laptop, the kid's tablet, my wife's smartphone, and my own work. No one would see my login credentials. For $3, I'd make everyone in the house happy. I never use VPN proxy services again.
 
For me, it is not really about who claims to be the fastest. I would care more about how stable the proxies are over time, how often they fail, and how quickly support responds when something goes wrong.
A small trial is useful, but real consistency is what makes me stay with a provider.

Most people who buy proxy services are looking to do things easily caught by a VPS IP.
 
If you have a seedbox, you essentially already have a leakproof VPN. With OpenVPN, you can easily optimize your home computer and smartphone. The only problem is that if you're seeding a lot of files, it will slow you down a bit while using this VPN. But it's better than not using a VPN at all.
 
for me it’s mostly transparency + support… let me test first, explain where the proxies come from, don’t hide limits, and actually replace/fix stuff when something goes wrong. fancy “10m ips” claims mean nothing if support disappears after payment
