My Journey – Building My First SaaS

Hi everyone,

I've been following BHW for a long time and have learned a lot from the discussions and journey threads here. I thought it was time to start documenting one of my own.

About Me

I'm a full-time software engineer, and this is a side project I'm building during evenings and weekends.

This isn't a "build in public" experiment or a quick flip. I want to build something valuable, grow it steadily, and share both the successes and the mistakes along the way.

Current Stage

  • MVP is live.
  • Currently have 2 active users, both acquired organically through Google.
  • Continuously improving the product based on feedback.
  • No paid marketing yet.

Why I'm Starting This Journey

I want to stay accountable and keep a public record of the progress.

I'll be sharing:

  • Product updates
  • Marketing experiments
  • SEO progress
  • Traffic and user growth
  • Revenue milestones
  • Challenges and lessons learned
I'll be transparent about what works and what doesn't.

Goals

Short-term

  • Reach 10 active users.
  • Continue improving the product based on real user feedback.
  • Understand which acquisition channels work best.

Long-term

  • Build a profitable SaaS with consistent recurring revenue.
  • Grow it into an attractive acquisition target and eventually sell the platform.

Looking Forward

I'm sure there will be plenty of ups and downs, but that's exactly why I'm starting this thread. Hopefully it will keep me motivated, and maybe someone else can learn from the journey as well.

Feedback, suggestions, and constructive criticism are always welcome.

Let's see where this goes.

Hey, great to have you here! Excellent start, keep it going!

I have been writing 3 articles per week. Done all technical SEO. Proper interlinking. No off page SEO so far

Journey Update #2 – First Trial User

A small but exciting update since my last post.

Things are slowly starting to move.

Current numbers

  • 12 total users
  • 7 new users since my last update
  • All users are organic from Google
  • 1 trial user
  • 0 paid customers so far
The biggest milestone for me is getting the first person to start a trial.

It's not revenue yet, but it's the first real signal that someone discovered the product organically and decided it was worth trying.

What's next?

My immediate goal is still 10 active/paid users.

I'm currently at 12 total users, but registrations alone don't mean much to me. I want to see people actually using the product and coming back.

So the next milestones are:

100 users → 10 active/paid users

I'm continuing to focus on organic growth for now rather than putting money into paid SEO.

The long-term goal is to build something valuable enough that I can eventually sell the platform.

Still very early, but getting the first trial user feels like a nice little win.

I'll keep updating this thread as things progress.
