I have been spending more time on Reddit lately and noticed that things seem quite different compared with a year or two ago.

Posts can get removed pretty quickly, some communities are much stricter about what they allow, and even accounts with decent history can sometimes run into restrictions.

I'm curious what others are experiencing.

Are you finding Reddit harder to work with in 2026?

Also interested in hearing what has changed the most for you, account restrictions, subreddit moderation, posting, karma requirements, link restrictions, or something else.

Would be good to hear some real experiences from people who are actively using Reddit.

Yeah Reddit definitely feels stricter now

Subreddit rules moderation and link restrictions seem to be the biggest challenges for me

Building genuine account history and contributing first seems to work better than pushing links early

Reddit is harder to work with because there's too much competition from other Reddit users in most of the subreddits/niches.
 
Definitely feels stricter now especially with subreddit rules and link restrictions Building genuine account history and contributing before dropping links seems to work better
 
Subreddits are the worst hit by whatever this new thing is. One step out of the way link and you will get warned. Even postings get flagged way easier these days. This new policy - whatever it is, is really stifling.
 
That is the case with every platform, but on the positive side, reddit is still growing, it seems like every new and old internet user is now on reddit. That's a massive source of traffic if you figure out how to tap it.
 
Definitely much stricter, and has got much more so since they rolled out their use of LLMs in spam detection a month ago. I had a four week old account, no promo posts, 500 karma. I sent one PM to someone asking if they wanted to make posts for me, I didn't even mention Reddit, and my account got banned.
 
I think they implemented some sort of AI into their bot fighting system as its accuracy has improved alot

Reddit give new accounts low CQS (trust) if it's not registered by google. Better sign up trough Google. Also checking karma (better farm a little it basic subs before work). So there reddit checks your activity (it gain CQS trust) and your karma. If you have moderate cqs (middle trust level) and like 50-100 karma you won't have problems. I run multiple accounts trough pigbam.com (free platform btw) it warming them up, and generating content. Like all in one. Ofc 20-30% still can be removed, but it's anyway better then 90-100%

Indeed, Reddit has become stricter, particularly in terms of new accounts and promotional content. I have seen that making contributions on a subreddit while adhering to their rules helps more than accumulating karma.
