For Instagram would you rather build on an old inactive account or start completely fresh?

i think I'd go fresh unless the old account already has a relevant, real audience. A dead account with random followers can hurt more than help.

If you want to post advertisements right away, an old account is better. If you are willing to seriously produce content and are not in a hurry to monetize, a new account is better. However, most people are thinking about monetizing immediately

yeah i have seen that before as well. it is difficult to draw conclusions based on the views of other people as the results may vary greatly deppending on the conditions. what interests me is the point of view of the person who ran those two for some time.

I have tested both and honestly it depends on the account history. An old account with real engagement can be a shortcut, but a dead one with bad signals can hold you back. Fresh accounts give you a clean slate.

An older account can have an edge but only if its history is still healthy a fresh account may perform better than an aged one with poor past activity
If the last niche and audience were valid i will go for the old account. if it have been dead for several years or the audience does not have any relevance then a new one could be much more convenient.

I believe a new fresh account will help the most, because if it is an old one and you already have posts you are going to confuse the IG algorithm and it will not push your new content as much as it would with a new account.
I would resurrect the old one, provided that it has no strange history. Let it be runs for 2 to 3 weeks and if it still lacks in reach then I would begin anew.

Never ever use an old inactive account to build something new. You do not know how the account was spammed, how much inactive it was, what is the history of the account, what kind of blocks it was hit from and many more things you wont have control of.

I've tested both in different situations, and I think the results depend heavily on the niche, audience, and execution. One can look better on paper but perform worse in practice. I'd compare them based on actual conversions and ROI rather than traffic or volume alone.
i thinks old account will be considereed if the niche of the old account suits ur present content. Otherwise new account will be better since there was no use of following an audience which never interacts.
