Looking for advice on growing Instagram - reels/day, promotion & strategy

Hey guys,

I’m working on growing an Instagram account and wanted to get some advice from people who are already doing this successfully.
  • How many Reels per day do you recommend posting?
  • Is 1 Reel/day better than 2–3 Reels/day?
  • How important is consistency vs. posting volume?
  • What’s currently working for organic reach?
  • Do you recommend promoting/boosting Reels with paid ads?
  • If using ads, is it better to promote individual Reels or run proper Instagram/Meta campaigns?
  • What kind of budget would you start with?
  • How long should I test before deciding whether a Reel/account strategy is working?
  • Any tips for getting followers rather than just views?
  • What mistakes should I avoid when trying to grow a new/small Instagram account?
Would be great to hear from anyone who has actually tested different approaches and can share what worked and what didn’t.

I see that reels are performing very well. A lot of people test with trial reels and post the one that has the best results
 
Go with 1 solid Reel a day and focus more on consistency and quality than volume. Give it a few weeks, see which topics and formats actually get people to follow, then make more of those. I wouldn’t spend money on ads until you have a better idea of what works organically.
 
Start with 1–2 Reels a day and see what actually happens. focus on making the videos people want to watch and share, then after a couple weeks put more effort into the ones getting real engagement. Don't spend on ads until you know the content works organically.

1-3 per day is enough, See how 1 reel a day is performing, If its not performing good then switch to 2 a day. But generally 1 a day is more than enough.

Definately, Too much of Posting also reduces engagement, Focus on Quality instead of Quantity.

Consistency is more important, 1 Reel a day consistently is more important than posting more randomly.

The obvious answer to this is Reels ofcourse, Nothing works better than this.

Only when you are trying to sell something with the reels, Otherwise just for engagement no.

Test for 1-2 weeks atleast with any campaign or strategy.A

Avoid buying followers, engagement or any sort of metric. Post consistently, Niche down and dont be broad.
 
If you want followers instead of just views you need to use comment triggers. setup something like manychat so when people comment a specific word you auto DM them a resource or a link. instagram rewards that heavy interaction and those people almost always follow you after getting the DM.

also disagree slightly with @IG Expert on the testing time... 1-2 weeks is nothing for a fresh account. give it at least a month of daily posting before you pivot because the algo takes time to bucket your account. and dont bother with boosting reels through the app, its a waste of budget. if you ever run ads do it through ads manager targeting lookalikes of your custom engagement audiences once you actually have some data to work with.

Within the first 2 weeks you get a really good idea of how the account will perform, sometimes 4 weeks are also not enough, and sometimes even months aren't, but the initial days gives you most of the idea.

I would begins with 1 gud reel daily rather than 3 reels that are average. Give it some tym and look at the follows, profile visits and saves not only views.
 
Don't just upload videos; try incorporating elements that are engaging, showcase your personality, and create a reason for viewers to save or share them.
 
When I post a reels I see the analytics if the niche is getting a great reach I often opt to post more reels of that particular niche.If a niche doesn't get a good reach I don't prefer posting and working on that niche that much.
