What helped you become a better writer?

most people struggle with keeping it interesting because they choose boring angles. if you are just rewriting the top 3 results on google, your article is gonna be dry no matter how many short paragraphs you use. try finding a contrarian angle or bringing in a weird data point that contradicts the common advice. when you have a hook that actually makes people think "wait, really?", the writing part gets way easier because you actually have something to say.

stop trying to write "an article" and just write like youre explaining it to a friend over a beer. when people try to sound like professional writers, it usually ends up sounding stiff and dry.

if you get stuck on what to actually say, go search reddit or quora threads on your topic. look at the exact questions people are asking in the comments and just answer those. it gives you a natural structure and you end up using the same language the audience uses, which makes the whole thing feel way more authentic.
 
to build on what @Ghost Merchant said about writing like you are explaining it to a friend... try dictating your first draft instead of typing it.

if you use voice to text on your phone while walking around, you end up talking way more naturally than you write. it gets rid of that stiff tone and cures the blank page block. you can easily knock out 1000 words in 10 minutes, then you just spend a few minutes cleaning up the transcript. makes consistency a lot easier when you arent staring at a blinking cursor.
 
Something that hasn't been mentioned is using copywriting frameworks instead of just trying to write "articles." If you want people to actually stay on the page, look up open loops. You basically hint at a major payoff or a secret early in the text but don't reveal it until later... it forces them to keep scrolling. Also check out the PAS formula. Problem, agitate, solve. If you spend the first few paragraphs making them really feel the pain of the problem they searched for, they will read your solution even if the writing itself is kinda average. Copywriters do this all the time because it works.
 
Let me share what has worked for me in such situations , when writing content.

1. When I am going to write about a topic, I first think about all the problems people usually have related to that topic.
2. Then I try to think of even more problems or questions they might have.

After that, I start writing. This approach has always worked well for me.

The key is simple- explain the problem to the person better than they can explain it themselves.

I think this approach will help to improve writing skills a lot

I wrote a lot of things since my childhood. Reading others helped me a lot. So I will suggest you to read others.
 
honestly relying too much on ai makes everything sound the same after a while, but just reading books doesn't magically make you a good article writer either. what worked best for me was keeping a swipe file or just a basic notes app doc of interesting hooks i see in the wild. whenever i read an article or a reddit thread that actually grabs my attention, i save it and dissect why it worked. once you start noticing the patterns in what makes you click and keep reading, it gets a lot easier to do it in your own stuff.
