Guest posting in 2026: still worth it, or is it dying?

Still think guest posting works in 2026 but quality matters much now, focus on relevant sites with real traffic & strong content instead of chasing metrics or building links in bulk, the old spray & pray approach is definitely less effective

Hey everyone,

Been in a few debates lately about whether guest posting still moves the needle for SEO in 2026, or if it's becoming less effective with all the recent algorithm/AI search changes.

Curious where the community stands:
  • Do you think guest posting is still one of the better link building methods right now, or has it lost its edge?
  • If you're still doing it, what's changed in your approach compared to a year or two ago?
  • If you've moved away from it, what are you doing instead?
I'll go first personally still see solid results from guest posts, but only when the site is genuinely relevant and has real traffic, not just decent metrics. The spray and pray approach definitely doesn't work anymore.

What's everyone else seeing? Would love to hear different opinions.
I have actually reduced my guest posting and i am using the site audience as an important criterion rather than DR. If no ones is going to click on the link or read the article then there is no point in having that article posted on the site.

I still think guest posting works in 2026, but the quality bar is much higher. Relevance, real traffic and genuine editorial value matter far more than just chasing high DA sites. I've also started mixing it with digital PR, niche edits and other natural link-building methods rather than relying on guest posts alone.

guest posting can work when the site is genuinely relevant and the content provides value focus on topical relevance real audience traffic and natural placements rather than chasing metrics or link volume.

Still valuable, though I believe the value has changed. the back link is only a bonus if the articles will even reach the website readership otherwise, publishing the article simply for the sake of placing a backlink do not seems as valuable anymore.

Guest posting, still gives values if one do it on high authority websites by doing outreach and hard negotiations, putting the link in the bio giving credits... I Tried few interviews with some bloggers and this has worked for me, I have published their interviews on my blogs and they did a thank back on that posts so I earned a link from it...

Guest posting still works, but relevance, real traffic, and quality now matter far more than volume.

I still think guest posting works in 2026 when the site is relevant and has real traffic I focus less on DR and more on niche relevance traffic and link placement

Guest posting still works in 2026 but quality matters more than quantity. Relevant sites with real traffic and useful content can still deliver solid results low quality posts made only for backlinks are losing their value.

guest posting is not dead in my opinion, the junk database is. it is more important to me that actual peoples read the website than its DR. a relevant link from a live audiebnce is still value able.

Guest posting remains effective when approached as digital PR and thought leadership, rather than as a straightforward link-buying tactic.
