i usually start with Google search console to check indexing, clicks, and any coverage issues. After that, I review keywords movements and competitor changes.
I use GSC myself, although it is my first point of contact, but do not dwell on day to day variations too much. It is the exceptional variations in traffic, new keywords, and even pages which have traffic but no clicks which are the most helpful.
