What criterias you look for while choosing domain name for your blog in 2026 ? Approx how much time you spend on this?

Looks like domain names don't need to be related to the keywords anymore but rather gimmicky, short and rememberable domain names are a go to. I still try to find something available with the words just to be safe.

I still try to have keyword in domain name. Natural flow, but abbreviations can be a compromise and still work, for example biz instead of business is still grouped in same results by search engine. But I think it barely helps anymore compared to the content itself.

I usually look for a short, easy-to-remember domain that fits the niche. I also avoid too many numbers or hyphens and prefer a name that can be used as a brand.

I used to have a simple formula for domain names. Adjective+top level keyword. I would nice down in content but always wanted room to grow. So for example if I was to niche down to sourdough o would look to go up levels to bread or even baking. It’s still connected but leaves room to expand more than putting sourdough in the title. So sometime wild baking

I usually opt for short, simple-to-spell name that create a great brand identity. In my opinion, it is better to do some research on the backlink of the domain than inserting the keyword in the name.

I’d keep the name simple easy to spell and flexible enough for future content. Before registering I’d also check its history backlinks, and whether it has any obvious reputation issues.
Which platform you use to check this?

Brandable and yet something that conveys the idea what the website is about.

for me it is about shortness, memorability, spelling ease nd brandability. the last thing i would do is fill a domain with keywords. normally i will spend somewhere between 30 nd 60 minutes evalluating various domains.

I look for a domain thats short, memorable, easy to spell, brandable and relevant to my niche. I usually spend 30 minutes to 1 hour researching names, availability, competitors and long term branding potential.

I usually go with a domain that will better serve my niche today and tomorrow. The name must be short and simple. When I have gotten a list, I proceed to do a thorough research on their histories to see which one would fly easiest.

I usually focus on a short memorable name that’s easy to spell and relevant to the niche I don’t overthink exact match keywords in the domain Usually 30–60 minutes is enough to shortlist and check availability

I care less about its current traffic numbers and more about my ability to make a brand out of it within 2 to 3 years tym. memorable name that is short, concise and with a gud background if the name is aged; generally would not takes more than 20 to 30 minutes making the decision.

I check the history before anything else now. Wayback machine and a quick backlink look. Had a "fresh" domain once that turned out to have been a spam site in 2019 and it never got off the ground.

After that, short and easy to say out loud. Keyword in the domain I stopped bothering with, it boxes you in later when you want to expand the topic.
