The UI has been updated, and they removed many features in their new version.

  • There is no longer an SEOquake bar.
  • I can't highlight domains (Overlay feature) in the SERP anymore. This was my power tool. Now I'm back to using the browser's find command.
Any alternatives to highlighting domains in the SERP?

SEOquake's new version removed some of the old SERP overlay features. For domain highlighting specifically, there doesn't seem to be a perfect 1:1 replacement yet.
For now, browser Find is probably the simplest option. SEO Minion and Keyword Surfer are useful

I use the chrome find domain search method, but definitely not as efficient as it could be. There are some SERP highlighter extensions available, but I would verify recent reviews as updates to Google can render these useless.

Yes, that is one of the reasons why most of the functionalities were removed from the toolbar. There have been some overlays of SERPs, but none that can match the old SEOquake functionalities.

Yes, indeed the old overlay was among the best. until now, I have been relying on chrome find nd an extension to mark the findings on the SERP, but nothing can match the old SEOquake setup.

well, the previous overlay turned out to be the most useful tool. I have also tried chrome find, but it actually turns out to be slower than this while examining multiple websites.

I miss that feature too. Hopefully they bring it back, because checking domains manually on big SERPs gets annoying.

The SERP highlighting feature was really useful for quickly spotting specific domains. I’d also like to know if there’s an alternative that can highlight or filter domains without adding too much extra work.

Yes. For domain highlighting in Google SERPs, try SERP-Highlighter or SERP Counter. They are pretty simple alternatives to the old SEOquake Overlay feature and can flag particular domains automatically, when you need that.

There are still some simple alternatives. SEO SERP Checker and Google Search Highlighter will let you highlight specific domains directly in Google results and for your exact use case you can try SEO SERP Checker first.
