Is AI Content Still Ranking in 2026 After Recent Google Updates?

I’ve seen a similar pattern. AI itself doesn’t seem to be the deciding factor as much as the quality and usefulness of the final page. The sites that hold rankings better usually add real expertise, original information, strong internal linking, and proper editing instead of just publishing large volumes of AI drafts. I’d also avoid judging it too early—some sites fluctuate for weeks after a core update. Comparing pages that gained versus lost visibility can reveal a lot about what’s actually working.

Asking this question will always get you 50% of the answers saying it won't rank and the other 50% saying it will rank.
What you actually should be asking after reading the content your AI tool generated is, does the generated content answer the question(keyword) and does it cover the whole topic?
If the answer is yes for both those questions, there is no reason for Google not to rank your content.

Yes—AI-assisted content can still rank in 2026, but Google rewards original, helpful, expert-led content, not mass-produced AI text.

Google's current guidance doesn't say AI content = bad. the issue is using automation to produce lots of pages without adding meaningful value.

If you dedicate your time on your Ai content i.e putting in some human edits rather than copying the whole Ai content, your content will surely rank well.
