I want to create short promo/tutorial videos for social and my site. What are the easiest tools (desktop or mobile) for a complete beginner to record, edit, add captions, and export vertical and landscape versions?

For a beginner, using CapCut is the best choice for creating promos.

I prefer Davinci Resolve but it does have a bit of a learning curve so it might not be as beginner friendly as capcut

I will follow this path: For mobile, get Inshot or capcut. When you are done editing, use Tiktok to add captions since adding captions is a paid feature, Tiktop will do that for free. Then use Videoshow to compress large videos. For PC Just use capcut. I will follow this path: For mobile, get Inshot or capcut. if you're posting regularly the personalized idea and competitor features can save some research time if you only upload occasionally the subscription might be harder to justify.

For shorts I would suggest go for capcut or simple Instagram edits, it gives so much benefits even automated captions and templates. People mostly on Instagram uses edits because it's easy to use.
