Still relying on old targeting methods? That’s probably why results are dropping.

2026 is all about data signals and creatives.

What changed in your strategy this year?

Shifted more toward data-driven targeting-focusing on real user signals, intent and engagement rather than just keywords. Also putting more effort into creatives and content quality to improve CTR and conversions. Overall, it’s more about relevance and user behavior now than old-school tactics.

Results aren't dropping if you know what you're doing. The fundamentals haven't changed, most people just never learned them properly. Zone level optimization, fast testing, strong tracking setup. Creatives matter more now yes but the guys who were already split testing and iterating aren't struggling. If your campaigns stopped working it's probably not "the industry changed", it's your setup got lazy.

1. Higher competition = higher CPC/CPM (raised 3x times since 2021)
2. google ads is selling low intent users to small advertisers, and high intent users to high budget advertisers. That means you always get what high budget advertisers (usually venture funded startups or big corps) didn't want to buy.
3. hard to get approved creatives if you don't cloak/replace final url after approval.

The only ones who can run profitable are those who run casinos/betting and scam (for example you offer user a "trial period for 7 days for $0.99 and after 7 days you charge $50 a week, the internet is full of this).

Facebook ads can still run some Pay per call profitable, but you need good testing budget that you are ready to lose.

So final answer is: because of high competition and overregulation
