Specifically, how do you use keyword research, search trends, emerging markets, online communities, competitor analysis, and other data sources to identify promising opportunities?

find niches or markets that you are kinda knowledgeable on or where you can gain an edge over the competition. Go from there and start growing

Check market trends, like google trends, social media, video sites etc

Look for gaps between what people are searching for and what’s actually being offered thats often where the best opportunities show up.

Look for things that are popular, in places I know about.

News and discovery is mostly taken over by AI now. I know enough moving parts with some education (BA business).
If you know marketing and have a software stack that's not a liability then you can test easier. I still learn from everywhere. Evergreens are my interest. Since money is an issue for most businesses, I teach myself ways to finance what can't be accessed with cash. So really I just need a business model, I know some from countless learning on YT/courses.

One thing worth adding to the gap idea. A gap between what people search for and what's being offered is usually there for a reason, and the reason decides whether it's an opportunity. Sometimes nobody has served it yet. Sometimes it can't be served profitably, and sometimes the people searching never pay for anything.

So before you build around a gap, look at who is already spending money near it. If advertisers are bidding on those terms, or there are sellers in that space with paying customers rather than just an audience, the demand is real and you're competing on execution. If the space is quiet in every direction, treat the silence as information rather than as an open door.

If we were to discuss finding promising blogging opportunities in 2026 I would not view it merely as a search for high volume

keywords rather I would see it as identifying an emerging niche where a balance or alignment between competition

revenue potential and reader demand has not yet been established.

look fot the things that are in trending and try to figure out what is missing in this business

I usually start with keyword trends and competitor gaps, then validate the idea through Reddit, forums, and niche communities to see if people actually have the problem. If there’s consistent demand + weak competition + a clear way to monetize it, that’s when I consider it worth pursuing.

I ask AI and then research new ideas further on Reddit discussions.

I actually analyze search trends, customer discussions, competitor gaps, and market data to find growing demand and unmet needs. Then I validate the best Opportunities with small tests.

In my opinion, you can gather information from various sources, from your personal interests and skills to what you're interested in and not interested in, or what doesn't exist in your area. From there, you can analyze a niche that you can target for long-term use and development. Most importantly, you should let it develop and grow over time.
