New here - Is "AI Automation Agency" still worth exploring or already oversaturated?

Hey guys,

I've been lurking for a few days and finally decided to post. I've been seeing AI automation everywhere lately — n8n, Zapier, Make, lead follow-ups, booking, email automation, etc.

I'm wondering if this is still worth getting into as a beginner, or if the market is already too crowded.

A few questions for anyone who's actually doing this:
  • Do you need coding skills, or can you start with n8n/Zapier and learn as you go?
  • How did you land your first client without just cold-spamming businesses?
  • What did your first 30–60 days actually look like?
My background is SMM/growth, so I'm considering adding automation to what I already do rather than starting completely from scratch.

Would love to hear what actually worked for you guys.

Let's be honest - AI Automation Agency is the new Guru BS. It is what Clickbank and WaFo were in the earlier days.

It was ebooks before, it's courses now.

No small business is looking for AI automation and there's a whole gamut of quality issues with AI Automation.

Unless you're offering one AI service and doing it extremely well - AI outreach, embedding/training on chatbots etc. - then whole AI Agency system is bullshit.
 
AI Automation and AI generally is as wide as the ocean. It's inexhaustible. The fact that you have it everywhere, means it's working and more people are getting into it. The more people are getting into it, the more new niches are created with need for more hands to help handle them. You ought to have started since yesterday.
 
If I were you, I would open an account on Fiverr or Upwork and focus on the demand from clients; this direction is relevant and will always be relevant. Now, with the help of AI, it has become easier to automate tasks, etc.

Yes, the market is saturated, but you can definitely earn money.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm trying to figure out. I can definitely see how the “AI agency” stuff is becoming the next guru trend, especially with everyone selling courses around it. But I'm curious about the other side — if you ignore the “AI agency” label and just solve one boring business problem with automation, do you think there's still a real opportunity there?

Yeah, that's a good point. I think I might be overthinking whether I'm “too late” instead of just picking one niche and testing it.

The part I'm still trying to figure out is which niches are actually worth looking at as a beginner :)

That's actually a good point. I hadn't thought about using Fiverr/Upwork mainly to see what clients are already asking for before deciding what to specialize in :) I guess that could be a good way to validate the demand. Tks a lot
 
No AI is not oversaturated and the domain with get even bigger when the AI capabilities increase so the demand will just go up with time . So AI agency will go higher than before growing.
 
AI automation is a bit saturated and Claude, Codex can do most of the week and people have created AI wrappers that do all the automations. But whenever there is a shift everyone flocks to the next thing. If I was starting out I would focus on social media marketing like the old days, but with current AI models you can create some serious stuff my g.
 
the label is saturated, the delivery isnt. dont start an "ai agency" from zero, ur smm background is the cheat code, just add one automation offer to clients u already have. no coding needed, n8n is enough but give it a weekend to click. first client = build it free for an existing client, record the before and after, and sell that exact result to similar businesses
 
It's more saturated than before, but I'd still jump in. Narrow down a niche and tackle a specific domain problem, not just generic AI automation.
 
Your SMM background is actually a solid starting point adding automation to services you already understand could make the transition much easier
