I was thinking to buy a snake as a pet, build him a little home in a glass box, but not sure how hard is it to maintain everything for him.

Anybody knows?

Yaiksss, my skin crawls whenever I see a dark coiled object in a corner, talk of getting an actual live snake into my house with my own hands... As to your question, do your research and go for the non-venomous ones or remove them teeths yourself. whatever would work for you. And it shouldn't be a baby anaconda. You might wake up in its digestive duct one day. SNAKES...... Hell maannnn. I learnt python without looking at the books cover page.

I wouldn’t say they’re extremely hard to keep, but they’re definitely not as simple as putting one in a glass box and feeding it occasionally. You need the right enclosure size, temperature and humidity, proper substrate, hiding spots, and a reliable feeding schedule.

Why will someone want to have a snake pet? When you can have other nicer animals like dogs who understand you in fact and can share more affections? I found it wierd then you are also taking the risk of getting bitten

I used to have a boa constrictor and a royal python as pets....about 15 years ago.

If you're going to get one... get something small, like a corn snake or a royal python.

Boa constrictors grow quite big and are really strong.

I used to have snakes so I will give you my perspective.

If someone I didn't like much come to my home, I would get the snake out and hold it by them.

They wouldnt call again :)

Only joking......

For me, it was the fascination of looking after a tropical animal that lives in a completely diferent environment than the UK.

A vivarium is like a small little universe to a tropical animal.

If I was going to do it all again I would get Tree Frogs.

They are so cool....

Snakes are cool but most people are scared of them.......but everyone loves tree frogs.

I think it will not so easy if you take a venomous one. You have to feed that in a regular basis and have to clean your glass box regularly. That would be harder and riskier.
