They can still help with traffic but don't expect much ranking power. Quality and relevance matter more then getting lots of free links.

Blog comments are no longer as effective if your goal is to use them for backlinks; it's better to collaborate with other websites by writing posts in exchange for a link to your site.

blog comments may assist uh with referral traffic nd visibility yet they are seldom an effective SEO link. in case of free links i would try to target forums, directories, resource sites nd community pages with a relevant link in them. one relevant link is worth 50 non rellevant ones.
Yes! blog comment is still worth it in 2026 for referral traffic, networking and visibility, but dont rely on comment links for major seo gains.
For free links, focus on medium, reddit, quora, github and etc... relevant niche communities prioritize genuine, useful contributions instead of mass commenting.

Blog comments mostly nofollow now, barely help direct rankings. Fine for a little referral traffic/brand mentions, but not worth it if you're chasing Serp movement. Guest posts or resource page links are a better use of time.
While blog comment interactions can offer some referral traffic and relationship benefit, I would not consider them a core strategy for rankings. Blog post opportunities and community link contributions should take priority IMO.

Blog comments are usually weak for SEO in 2026, especially if used only for backlinks. Focus on relevant guest posts, helpful community mentions, business listings, and natural editorial links.

Use blog comments mainly to build relationships and get some referral traffic, not as your main way to build SEO links.
blogs comments were not extinct but i could use them as a traffic strategy not for backlinks.
Comments on the relevant blog that bring traffic to the website that is all i needs otherwise around 100 comments will also be useless.
