Same experience here too. Refreshing the old pages with better intent matching works more effectively than creating new content, partiularly in cases where there is some link juice built up already.

Improve titles on pages that already get impressions but few clicks. A clearr title can make the result more attractive.
 
Internal links and search intent have worked for me in some surprising ways because even a slight improvement has led to remarkable outcomes.

Removing out dated low traffic posts and combining duplicate pages were absolutely vry crazy thing to do. increased shot impressions over night just from getting rid of excess content.
 
One of the most unexpected wins for me was improving internal linking. Simply connecting related pages with relevant anchor text helped some underperforming articles gain visibility much faster than expected.
 
Better user experience changes like clearer structure and easier navigation helped more than I expected.

Indeed, the two tend to be underrated. Small internal linking improvemnts and updating old material have helped to boost crawl flow and rankings without having to add much new content.

Yeah, sometimes stepping away from the usual SEO checklist helps. I’d still keep the fundamentals tight, but focus more on search intent, page usefulness and testing what actually moves rankings instead of following rules blindly.

Internal linking is one of the easy wins even now. What I would do is use contextual links and not force exact matches to move my authoritative pages from impressions to URLs just off page one.

Sure enough, repurposing previously written content can work wonders, particularly when the webpage is already backed up by some backlinks and has established credibility. I completely agree. Competition is always more significant than trying to optimize perfectly. When SERP is really weak, then it's possible for mediocre content targeting intent to beat optimized pages.

the improvement on the intros on a few pages were much more effective for me than i anticipated. the answers becames much clearer and some pages begins attracting long tails keywords.
 
Refreshing older pages and strengthening internal links have made a bigger difference for me than i expected. I have found that some pages do not need a complete rewrite or tons of extra content. Making a few changes around search intent and linking them better to related pages can improve their relevance and performance. In my experience small and focused changes often work better than changing everything at once.

i think good internel linking, quality of backlinks and updated content must be good and can change the life of your website, becuase now google needs quality not quantity, because google is in more favour of audience and after AI it has changed lot

one of the biggest wins for me have been getting the internal linking on the older pages right. Not too glamorous but when the relevant pages were allowed to starts passing their authority to each other, the rankings shifted.
