Stop chasing volume pick one tight topic, match search intent better than competitors, fix on-page basics, and build a few strong backlinks instead of spraying content.
is my niche too competitive or am i just doing it wrong?

In my opinion it can be both honestly, some niches are tough but also small mistakes slow things. Try targeting easier keywords first and see if you start getting some traction.

You're probably hitting your head against a wall trying to outrank big sites on the same terms. Instead of copying them find small specific gaps they missed and own those first. If your links aren't doing anything your site might just need more age or better topical coverage before google trusts you with the big stuff.

it happens a lot, usually it is not the niche but weak keywords or intent mismatch, try targeting easier terms and fixing content angle first.

It’s not always the niche. Most of the time it’s positioning and execution. Competitors with less effort usually have better alignment with search intent, stronger topical focus, or higher quality links rather than just more of them.
Throwing more content and links blindly rarely works now. You need to look at what’s already ranking and match or improve on it in terms of structure, intent, and authority.

i know where you are coming from since it has not worked for me bcz it is not the topic but rather the fact that i was competing with major players on the same keywords. after i focused on low competition topics nd updating old blog posts, my rankings have been getting better gradualy.

Been there myself. Before you start thinking it is niche try comparing the pages since sometimes it is the search intent or the way the website is structured that is wrong not the number of content or links.

I’d step back audit what competitors are doing differently and identify the bottleneck before putting in more effort.

May be it is the niche but in most cases, it is the positioning. i has seen poor quality niches succeed when their content fit the search intent mostly and the internal linking were corrected.

I think some times adding more posts is not the soution I started looking at why peoples was searching for those topics and changed content around that.

It may not be the niche itself. If competitors are ranking with less content and fewer links, I’d first look at search intent, topical relevance, site authority, and link quality. More content/links won’t help much if the strategy isn’t aligned with what Google is rewarding.
