Hello everyone

I am about to start my YouTube channel and my main focus will be YouTube Shorts with a global audience.

I have a sincere question for experienced creators:
  • How can I give my very first YouTube Short the best chance of going viral?
  • How does the YouTube Shorts algorithm actually work, and what are the best ways to optimize for it?
  • Which factors have the biggest impact on reach—hook, video length, title, hashtags, upload timing, or something else?
  • If you've successfully grown a Shorts channel, I'd really appreciate it if you could share your experience and any practical tips.
I understand there's no guaranteed formula for going viral, but I'd love to learn from people who have real experience with YouTube Shorts.

Thank you in advance for your advice and support!

The first few seconds matter the most a strong hook, good retention and content that makes people watch until the end usually matter more than hashtags or upload timing.

Make your videos engaging, especially in the opening seconds, to create a strong impression and keep viewers watching. Then, regularly post other videos that perform as well as possible. Your first video might not attract as many viewers, but maintaining consistency and regularity will lead to your account's success.

the most important aspect about shorts is the first few second. It is important to hook the attention of the target audience but retention is equally important. keep experimenting with different format.

I have a few suggestions for you. Create an extremely captivating and intriguing hook using eye-catching images so viewers won't scroll away. The sharper the image quality, the better. Finally, since you're targeting a nationwide market, I think you should include subtitles for easier access by everyone worldwide. Good luck!

do not overanalyze the algorithm on ur first few posts. i would rather spend more time trying out various ideas for content than perffecting my hashtag. a single good idea that gets great watch time can beat a well timed but ignored post. just keep posting, analyzing nd sticking to what works best.

Short videos that keep people watching until the end usually do better try to make every second interesting.

Don’t focus too much on hashtags or upload time. The first 2-3 seconds are everything. Make people stop scrolling, keep retention high, and test lots of formats. Most viral Shorts come after many tries, not the first upload.

There are many ways to make your videos stand out more than others. Eye-catching thumbnails, controversial titles, etc.
But if you just want your first video to go viral without worrying about what comes next in the future, a hot, controversial topic usually does the trick, something like "The Internet is Dead".

I think the first 2 to 3 seconds are the most important part. If people do not stop scrolling, the video won't get much reach.

I think the hook is probably the biggest factor if people stop scrolling and keep watching youtube seems more likely to push the short to a wider audience things like the title and hashtags can help but viewer retention from the first few seconds feels like the biggest factor

Make sure that your videos are interesting enough to keep your audience engaged. Use appropriate viral sounds and keywords.

In all honesty, do not attempt to go for virality with the first one aim for the first 20 videos. The most important part of it all is a killer fst second and keeping viewers engaged until the end hashtags and upload times become in significant in comparison.

Just analyze what your competitors are posting (ideally, newer videos with good impressions from newer channels). Create your own video and compare how dynamic it is with the competitors’ videos, preferably second by second.

Once you’ve created the content, look at the views. If you’re not getting any or low, you may have a shadowban. In that case, we’ll be looking for a solution to the same problem. I’d be happy to discuss it with you.

  • Add hooks in the first 1-2 seconds with any trending audio.
  • The algorithm might test shorts on a small audience, and then later expand.
  • Add good titles and hashtags, and give a proper length for the shorts.
  • Post high-retention shorts consistently.
  • Try doing something rare (mostly that helps)

I’d focus less on trying to make the first Short go viral and more on testing different hooks/content styles. The first 1–2 seconds and retention seem way more important than overthinking hashtags or upload time. Post consistently, check what actually keeps people watching, then double down on those ideas. That approach should give you much better data after the first 10–20 Shorts.

If i will be in your place will look for the competitors to see how they get video virals....... i will start with first few seconds to make it look great then coppy from their post and add some more info
