How Do You Find Content Gaps in Your Niche?

I am planning the next few articles for my website, but I don't want to keep writing the same topics that every competitor has already covered.
I am looking for content ideas that are missing or not covered well in my niche.
How do you usually find these content gaps?
Do you use SEO tools, Google Search, forums, or just analyze competitor websites?
I would love to hear what works best for you.

Genieunly just try to check your competitors directly and then read their blogs. As soon as you do that there is genieunely no effort in starting to scrape them and then seeing what is missing and which part you already have at the same time

Usually I'll start off checking what competitors are ranking for, then I'll dig through Reddit, forums, and Google's "People Also Ask" to see what questions people are still asking. Honestly those discussions often uncover gaps that SEO tools alone just don't catch.

You can use the Google Trends tool, where you can find the most trending and most searched terms, like Top queries and Rising queries. From there, you can get an idea of the topic, and you can execute it as a well seo structured article

I usually check the comments on competitor blogs. People often ask questions that never get answered, and those become good article ideas.

Just crawl your competitors site with screaming frog tool and compare their content structure with your's. It helps to reveal the missing topic cluster

tbh i get some of my best ideas from search console. if a page is getting impresions for queries i never intended to target i will expand that topic instead of starting from scratch.

usually, I analyze content from GSC, Reddit/forums nd PAA in addition to competitive analysis. In my view, the best gap for content come from queries that your competitors have not addressed yet.

Google search suggestions and People Also Ask are still useful. I also compare top ranking pages to see what information is missing.

I usually combine SEO tools with Google Search and real discussions on forums to see what people are asking but not getting good answers to. I also review competitor content to find outdated, shallow or missing topics that I can cover in more depth.

I usually start with Google Search Console to find keywords I'm already getting impressions for, then compare competitors using SEO tools. Forums, Reddit,

mostly, I integrate competitor research finding with GSC nd real user data. sometimes, the best feasible gap can be identified through questions being raised but not addresed by article.

Why not check your own blog articles and your competitors, since you are the one writing them, you will surely see what you are looking for

Good question. this is where most people waste months writing content nobody needs.

Here as what actually works.
Ahrefs Content Gap tool first.
Put your top 3 competitors in and filter for keywords they all rank for but you don't. Then go one step further. Filter that list for keywords where the ranking page has low word count or thin content. That's your clearest signal. the topic exists, people search it, but nobody has answered it properly yet.

Reddit and forums are underrated.
Go to the subreddit for your niche and sort by Top, All Time. Look at what questions get 200+ upvotes and 50+ comments. Those are real people asking things they couldn't find a good answer to on Google. that's a content gap dressed up as a forum post.

Google autocomplete and People Also Ask.
Type your main keyword and go three or four levels deep into PAA boxes. Screenshot everything. The questions that appear deep in the PAA chain are ones with thin coverage. If a question keeps showing up but the ranking pages barely touch it, write the definitive answer to just that question.

Check the top ranking pages directly.
Open the page ranking number one for your target keyword. Read the comments section if it has one. Read the one star reviews on related products on Amazon. People complain about what they wish someone had explained properly. That's your article brief.

One more thing.
Sort your competitor's blog by oldest first. Their early content is usually thin and never updated. Pick those topics and write the 2026 version properly. Easy wins.
