Do high DA backlinks really make a big difference?

Contextual, niche-relevant backlinks from active websites that actually receive real organic traffic from Google matter far more. A single relevant link from a small site in your exact industry carries more algorithmic trust and weight than a dozen high-DA links from completely unrelated domains.

Not true. Google does not look at backlinks at all. They only function as mechanism to get visitors to your site.

Honestly, high DA backlinks are often just shiny objects; focusing on relevance and quality content will always be a better investment. Don't waste your time and money chasing a number that doesn't guarantee results

in my experience a few niche relevant contextual links have outperformed dozens of generic high DA backlinks the source and placement of the link usually matter more than the DA score

Well basically if the links are relevant then quality and context can beat the metrics because I have also seen high DA niches Outperformed by Low DA niches just because of links relevancy.

DA looks good on paper, but relevance wins everytime. A niche related contextual link have given me better long-term results than random high-DA placements.
 
High DA Links for same niche is best, relative niche links are also okay.

Its like you enter in Hollywood and Top Actor just mention your name in some of their project you get credibility instantly. It only opens the door, you still need to produce high-quality work to build your own reputation and sustain those rankings.

DA is useful as a quick filtering metric, but I wouldn't base link decisions on it alone. I've had niche-relevant links from lower DA sites outperform higher DA ones because they fit the topic and attracted real traffic. If I had to choose, I'd take relevance and editorial quality over DA every time.
