Getting impressions but zero clicks on blog posts - is this an AI search behavior problem?

Been posting blog content consistently but I'm only getting impressions, no clicks at all. I'm starting to think people have gotten used to just reading AI-generated summaries/answers instead of clicking through to actual sites.

Anyone else noticing this trend? What's the way forward here - is it a content problem, a headline/meta description problem, or just the AI search era killing organic clicks in general? Getting pretty tiring grinding on posts that go nowhere. Would appreciate any real feedback from people dealing with the same thing.

It is clear to me that AI-driven summarization has affected certain informational searche, although there is a need to consider CTR, search intent, nd even how strong your titles are. you can always include an element of news value or your own personal experience as a draw for them.

I would compare the queries bringing impressions with the actual page content before blaming AI. A small mismatch in search intent or an unappealing title can quietly reduce clicks even with good visibility.
 
What is the actual ranking? Is it actually 1st in the results? Also check for that keyword does Google auto generate AI answer. I am sure I saw an article where it has nearly 50% dropped traffic but if you actually ranking in top 3 with enough impressions you should still get some clicks.
 
AI Overviews are eating clicks, it is a fact. especially for informational content. That is affecting many websites.

If you are getting impressions but few clicks
Check your CTR in GSC. If it's below 1%, improve your titles and meta descriptions.
* Write titles that create curiosity instead of generic ones like "Complete Guide" or "10 Tips."

Focus on content that AI can't easily summarize, such as:
- Case studies
- Personal experience
- Original research
- Product comparisons
- Real data and screenshots

Simple informational content gets fewer clicks now. Unique, experience based content performs better.
 
I do get my answer from AI overview but I still visit a few websites on the first page. If you're on the first page and still not getting clicks, try changing your title. Even try a clickbait title if you have to, just to to test things out.

Yeah a clickbait title works wonders for this kind of job.
 
Check the actual queries generating impressions. if you are ranking on page 2 or lower zero clicks is not surprising. if you are consistently near the top with zero clicks, then i would investigate the SERP and your snippet.
 
Impressions with zero clicks is not just ai stealing traffic it's usually weak titles snippets or mismatch with search intent, if you are not triggering curiosity or offering something better than the serp summary, people won't click
 
AI Overviews and richer search results have reduced clicks for many sites, but impressions without clicks can also point to weak titles, meta descriptions or content that doesn't stand out.
