Unlinked mentions – why big brands get them free, you don't

Partly disagree. Smaller websites can get mentioned too if they're active in their niche and publish useful content or cover trends early.

Also Calling it 'buying a link with extra steps' is like saying tipping the waiter is buying your dinner twice. The mention was already earned.
