Has proxy quality gone downhill?

Because I had checked a couple of providers in the last year, and it seems as their performance is not on the same level as some time ago. So, perhaps, it is not a problem with the providers but rather my own luck.

Has everyone noticed such a trend or did I choose the wrong ones?

i actually think it’s improving overall because there are more providers competing now. depends what type you mean though… some big companies charge more and still perform worse than smaller ones that actually care about keeping clients happy

proxies got qualities include 4G - 5G network which are different in spoofing and surfing the websites and social apps, although they do have different in residential and normal device proxies oriented programming to surf using without purchase of external proxies.

Top providers are shifting their focus toward products like Datasets and APIs rather than pure proxy quality.
Smaller providers are often just resellers sharing the same overloaded upstream IP pools, and anti-bot systems have gotten much smarter, causing IPs to burn out far quicker than before.

I wouldn't say proxy quality is getting worse. Expectations have changed. The same IP quality that was enough a few years ago often isn't enough today because detection relies on much more than just the IP. That's why switching providers doesn't always solve the problem.

I wouldn’t say proxy quality has universally gone downhill. The bigger change is that websites have become much better at detecting automation and suspicious traffic.

An IP that worked perfectly a few years ago may now get blocked because platforms also analyze browser fingerprints, DNS, connection patterns, session behavior and account history. On top of that, many providers resell access to the same shared pools, so some IP ranges become overloaded or overused very quickly.

It also depends heavily on the task. Residential, mobile and static ISP proxies can produce completely different results on the same website. So changing providers may help, but choosing the correct proxy type and testing a specific location or ISP is often more important than the provider’s overall pool size.

Depends on what type of proxies you're buying. If you're using cheap residential pools, you're mostly sharing abused IP ranges. Switching to 4G/5G mobile proxies usually fixes the quality issue.

Proxy services today are like SMM panels.

In many instances, they come from the same sources.

Excluding the guys who run their own service with their own setups and devices, there are a few in BHW, but a lot of them operate exactly like SMM panels (resellers of a bigger provider).

If you're running sensitive operations like ad management, switching from cheap shared residential pools to dedicated 4G/5G mobile proxies or private static ISP proxies with clean ASN reputation is essential right now.

I think one reason is that detection technology has improved,, so many websites are much better at identifying and blocking proxy traffic than they were a few years ago.

Quality is becoming more difficult to differentiate, which makes it harder to choose a provider.

There is definitely a you get what you pay for with proxies. Static residential has it's uses but in my experience a lot of them get labeled as datacenter . Mobile proxies seem to be better overall. I do think that detection is getting better though especially with AI.

It's not your luck but i have noticed that. Most providers are not as great as they used to be. Why, i don't know. More and more people use proxies.

Yes,I have noticed the same thing.Nowadays I see that platforms are doing good job for detecting low quality proxies.

im renting from 1 guy for 4 yrs with 3 years remaining
my rental has had 2 days down time in 1 year
That is very nice indeed! So I guess you're satisfied right?

Proxy quality can change over time because IP reputation, target website rules, and network conditions are constantly changing. It doesn't always mean the provider became worse.

Usually, testing different locations, ISPs, and session settings is the best way to find the right fit for a specific use case.

I’d compare it with as few moving parts as possible

Same target, same request setup, same geo - then test a small batch from the old pool against the new one. Otherwise it’s really hard to tell whether the provider got worse or the target just changed

I wouldn't say that quality is deteriorating but i have recently tested luxhost and received surprisingly good results on it.

That's just how these things go. Eventually, people do enough bad stuff that their proxies get put on blacklists, and the cycle continues.
