what is considered a good engagement rate on tiktok today?

Honestly, I'd take a 3–5% engagement rate with real fans over 15% from people who disappear tomorrow. The best metric is still: Are people coming back for the next video?

Views and interactions vary depending on the time. If you've been using your account for a while and have low interaction, you need to increase it. The higher the views, the greater the interaction.

I think 3-5% is a decent range for many accounts. But it also depends on the niche and audience size.

I am trying to better understand tik tok performance metrics, especially enagegment rate .i often see different numbers mentioned online, with some creators saying 3-5 % is good , while others aim for much higher rates.

for those actively using tiktok , what engagement rate do you currently cosider good or healthy?
However, I find ER to be an effective metrics to measure, although it is sometimes deceptive when considered alone. An account with a relatively smaller size will always show high ER simply bcz it is more involved, whereas large accounts have a tendency to go down. personally, I tends to gauge performance based on retention, re watching, sharing, and the taking of actions by the viewer after viewing.

Most individiuals see engagement rate as being a static metric, but i believes that the actual metric should be how it stacks up against the past performance of ur content. A video which has a low ER but gud retention rates and repeated views is likely to performs much better than a video that has a high ER but is immediately forgotten by viewers.

I consider engagement rate to be valuable still sometimes it can become a source of mis understanding when considered separately. A video which has a higher ER despite having less views may not always exceed another video which has average ER but great retention and re watching rates. I pay attention to the no of views which go to the end of a video, rewatching sharing or visiting the profile after watching the video.

i think a 3–5% engagement rate is pretty “healthy” for most accounts

Anything from 4 to 6 prcnt is considered good, but it depends a lot on the size of ur account as well as how you measure engagement mostly based on views or number of followers. Small accounts get 8 percent easily, while larger macro accounts get 2 to 3 percent.

I’d say 3–5% is decent, but I wouldn’t obsess over one benchmark because different tools calculate ER differently.
If you're using (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views, around 5%+ is healthy, and 7–10%+ is very strong. Some 2026 datasets put the average around 6%.

More important though is watch time, shares and saves. A video with 4% ER and 500K views can be much more valuable than one with 12% ER and 5K views.

The numbers conflict because the formula does. Some divide by followers, some by views. Same account, totally different percentage. That's your 3% against someone else's 15%. TikTok doesn't distribute on likes at all. FYP runs on watch time and serves mostly to non-followers, so a per-follower rate measures a denominator the algorithm ignores.

I think 8% is a good rate; my account consistently stays at this level. I rarely pay much attention to the specific figure, though, because I always engage with people after I post.

I would not really focus on a certain % tbh. If people are viewing the entire video and leaving comments or may be likes then even a 3 to 5 percent would be a good result.

there is one perfect number for tiktok. around 3 to 5 percent can decent but it also depends on niche and how big the account is.

to be honest i have never checked it. as long as i get thousands of real views i got because of the quality of the content, i just assume everything else is going great
