Content Length in 2026 - Does Word Count Still Matter or Is It All About Intent?

@Nikolaos agreed, and that's the bit I framed badly in the OP. I set it up as length versus intent when the real question is just whether the page finishes the job. Do you find the long ones still earn their length on comparison queries, or does the same thing hold there?
 
Some topics requiire some depth but there r others that do not
@vexopiper that last part is where it actually gets hard. Working out which topics need the depth is the real skill, and I don't think the keyword on its own tells you.

I go off what's already ranking for it. If page one is all long comparison pieces, that's the format the query wants. If they're short and direct, writing two thousand words just buries the answer.

Does that hold on your side, or do you judge it off the topic itself?
