also regarding what @Atervaga said about testing... you don't need to buy 100 of something to test it. just list 1 or 2 items you can source easily or even stuff from around your house to see if the niche gets traction. if it sells, then you look for a supplier. starting a business account with zero feedback is tough anyway so just focus on getting those first 20 transactions without worrying too much about profit.

I have a general idea of what to work on and would like to get my listings right and keep my buyers happy.
 
for listings, I'd focus on clear photos, accurate titles, complete item specifics and descriptions that answer the questions a buyer is likely to have.
