Hi everyone,

I have been wondering how relevant SEO is for local businesses in 2026, especially with the rise of social media, paid ads, and platforms like Google Maps.

Do you think local SEO still plays a strong role in getting leads and customers, or are businesses now relying more on ads and social platforms?

Also, what strategies are working best right now for local SEO?

I would like to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Local SEO remains highly effective in 2026. Platforms like Google Search and Maps continue to bring in users who are ready to take action, making them a strong source of quality leads. While ads and social media can boost visibility, SEO delivers consistent, long term traffic without ongoing costs. The best approach now is combining SEO with a well optimized Google Business Profile, strong reviews, and selective use of ads. What’s working best today includes keeping your Google Business Profile active with photos, posts, and customer reviews, targeting location based keywords through dedicated service pages, building genuine local backlinks, and maintaining a fast, mobile friendly website.

I would say, local SEO is still important, Google bring real leads. Focus on reviews, local keywords, and a good google business profile.

Local SEO is still very relevant, especially for businesses that depend on nearby customers, even with social media and paid ads growing fast. Most businesses are actually combining both

Even after rise of social media, ads and maps, most of the time people use above all to explore but when they really ready to buy they still search. That's where the real money is, you're not going to convince them to need something, you have to just show up when they're ready. So Local SEO will be still helpful for you to capture long term free leads.

It is still important. There should be separate budget for this. It gives very good returns in long time.

Yes, offcourse SEO is still very relevant in 2026 for local businesses. People still search online for nearby services, so showing up in search results helps you get more customers.

If you run a local business, don't ignore local SEO and maps. But also invest heavily in social media and use location hashtags in your posts and you'll be surprised by the visibility you generate

Local SEO is still very important in 2026. Ads and social can bring traffic, but local search (especially maps) still drives high-intent customers.

What’s working best is optimizing your Google Business Profile, getting real reviews, keeping NAP details consistent, and targeting local keywords on your site.

So it’s not either SEO or ads — best results come from combining both.

Yes—SEO is still very relevant for local businesses in 2026.

It hasn’t been replaced by ads or social media; it works alongside them. Platforms like Google (especially Maps and local search) still drive high-intent traffic—people searching “near me” are often ready to buy.

Local SEO is still valuable because people searching for a nearby service usually have strong intent.

Ads and social can create demand, while Maps and organic pages catch people who are ready to act.

I would keep the business profile accurate, request honest reviews, and build useful location pages. The channel mix matters, you know, but local search remains one of the clearest ways to turn visibility into calls or bookings.

Local SEO is still very relevant in 2026. Ads and social media can bring quick traffic, but SEO builds long-term visibility and trust.
For local businesses, I’d focus on Google Business Profile optimization, local content, reviews, citations, and building strong topical relevance.
The best results usually come from combining SEO with other channels, not relying on just one source.

It's extremely relevant, and if you don't believe me, ask yourself how you find new businesses today. Most people pull out their phone, search something like "restaurants near me," skip past the ads, and click on the organic results; that's SEO at work. Even if you think AI is taking over search, I'd still argue SEO is more important than ever because AI has to get its information from somewhere. Whether it's pulling from websites, Reddit, Quora, or other trusted sources, it's almost always relying on organic content, not paid ads or pages buried on page 10 of the search results. So yes, SEO is still incredibly relevant for local businesses, and it's just as important on a national level.

I believe local SEO is still extremely relevant in 2026. While paid ads and social media can generate quick visibility, SEO tends to bring more consistent long-term traffic without relying on a continuous ad budget. From what I've seen, businesses that keep their Google Business Profile updated, earn genuine customer reviews, and maintain accurate local information usually perform much better in local search. Combining those efforts with a well-optimized website seems to produce the strongest results.

Yes i think is even more important local seo than ever as a local business a lot of customers can arrive from google map. If you promote your local business on social media and other mediums you will most likely not get local customers but worldwide audience in most cases that is a big difference

No mate.

Absolutely no one on this planet uses Google to find out about a business anymore...

I still think local SEO is one of the best ways for local businesses to get consistent leads. Social media and ads are great for visibility, but when people are ready to buy, they usually search on Google or Maps. A well-optimized Google Business Profile, genuine customer reviews, and local content still seem to make a real difference.
