Does every blog really need a video in 2026? what length works best?

I don't include videos in most of my blog posts, and they still rank just fine. In my experience, the quality of the content, how well it answers the search intent, and how naturally it's optimized for relevant keywords have a much bigger impact on rankings than whether a video is included. That said, adding a video can still be a great idea if it improves the user experience or encourages visitors to stay on the page longer. If you do include one, I'd recommend keeping it short and engaging since you only have a limited amount of time to capture and hold someone's attention.

Not every post needs a video. It depends on what the reader is looking for.
If it's a how to guide and seeing the steps makes it easier to follow, then a video is worth adding. But for comparison posts or simple explanations, then leave it.
As for the length, don't aim for a specific number. Just make it as long as it needs to be. 90 seconds video that cover everything is better than a 6 minute video with a lot of filler.

I've seen videos help when they explain something better than text. Quality and relevance seem more important than trying to hit a specific length.

Think about user intent. Do it only if it serves the purpose, not just to rank better.
Not every blog needs one. I only add videos to posts where it actually helps explain something or keeps people on the page longer. Around 2–5 minutes has worked best for me, but the content matters more than the length.
for sure i would give this a try. rather than focusing on the optimal length of the video ensure that it is interesting enough to attract ur viewers attention. No one will sit through a lengthy summary of the article but an interessting three to six minutes video that highliights the core message or illustrates something could be quite helpful.

Another observation i have made is that videos are more effective when they help with the next question the reader has rather than simply repeating the article. If the blog tells u all about something, then there is not much point in making a video about it.
Instead, i would prefer to add an ex, demonstration or even a case study rather than a summary of some kind. The length of such a video is not nearly as imp as its content.

You don't need a video in every blog. Add one only if it helps explain the topic or keeps readers interested. For most blog posts, a simple 1-3 minute video is enough and works well without slowing the page down.

I think videos help when they add value, but not every blog needs one. I usually aim for 2–5 minute videos that explain the topic clearly and keep visitors engaged.
What I have noticed for one is that including a video works better when the post is already receiving traffic. People might be on the page without converting or inter acting with the content, and the video would help them to stay there.
I would not try to squeese in videos to every single article. The inclusion of the video should be only when it actually adds value to the story in a way that could be seen visuially and can not be written in the text.

I was thinking the same , i wil test it on performing pages first and before adding videos i need to track engagement and ranking for the pge
