I want to develop my instagram channel to sell products. I'd like to know the difference between views from strangers and followers, what's a good retention rate and what i should do to make my videos get more views for longer? Does anyone have experience with this?

Focus on getting the right audience, not just more views. If strangers are watching but not following or buying, your content or targeting may need work. I'd keep an eye on profile visits, follows, and sales alongside watch time since those usually tell you more than view count alone.

Indeed, focusing on metrics like profile visits and actual engagement rather than simply attracting a generic audience is far more effective. Instead of casting too wide a net, target specific groups to build a stable, loyal customer base; this allows for more successful sales and greater profitability. To achieve this, concentrate on creating high-quality, informative videos that retain viewers and spark discussion around various topics.

Viewing from unknown sources reveals the potential for expanding the customer base, while viewing from followers reflects the level of loyalty and current effectiveness.

Instead if Views, in your case, getting targeted followers is going to be much more important since that way, 1 person who is intrested in getting your content would be = to 10k-20k views. That being said, even views does not guarantee which location to target. Do Follow/Unfollow and target users who are interested in your product.

Views from non-followers matter more if you want to grow. For retention, there isn't one "good" number since it depends on the video. I'd focus on making the first few seconds more interesting because that's where most people decide to keep watching or scroll away.

the perspective of others is valuable since that is how growth will occur but the aim is to get these viewers to become followers nd buyers. i have come to see that powerful hooks, quick value propositions nd proviiding valuable content rather than pushhing products works well to keep ppl around.

when it come to advertising, there need to be an importance placed upon the journey from viewing to following, to becoming a client and not on just having a lot of views. getting the attention of viewer is useful but not what actually make the difference.

Strangers will count more when it comes to product accounts since they will bring in new reach and people who could be potential buyers. Instead of being too concerned with retention rate, concentrate more on getting people engaged within the first few seconds of watching your video, and solving their problem.

Retention rate measures the percentage of video time viewers spend watching before moving on to another video. The first 3 seconds (Hook Rate) are crucial. At the end of the video, include a call to action such as: "Comment 'CONSULT' to receive a price list via message" or "Click the link on your profile to buy now."
