Yelp is now licensing its reviews, ratings, photos, and business data to OpenAI. This will let ChatGPT pull Yelp content in real time, to help answers for local recommendations and queries: https://www.axios.com/2026/07/23/yelp-reviews-chatgpt-geo-partnership

The 'request a quote' feature will be coming soon, which means users will be able to contact local service providers directly from within ChatGPT. Yet another reason to list your businesses in Yelp.

From my experience working with small business owners they all say Yelp is awful.

But Google being a competitor I think Yelp and Trustpilot were the only options

Don’t know why they said that. On ORM part, I agree that.

They will filter the positive reviews but don’t bother even if we provide proof that negative reviews are fake. They won’t take any action at all.
 
Yelp may not be everyone's favorite platform, but this is still a big update.

If ChatGPT starts using Yelp data more often for local recommendations, businesses should make sure their Yelp profile is complete and up to date. It's another reminder that AI visibility is becoming just as important as Google search visibility.
 
That's a smart move by Yelp honestly. As more people start relying on AI for local recommendations, having your Yelp profile optimized and active is probably going to matter even more for local businesses going forward.
 
Time to set up a yelp account.

Tbf they'll probably partner with trustpilot soon as well.

It's basically everything the BBB was trying to be.

Negative fake reviews pop up even on fresh accounts, legitimate good reviews get hidden or removed, and competitor ads will pop up on your page, above your listing.

But if you pay for their premium upgrade package, they'll 'manually verify' all your reviews and make sure only "legit" (positive) ones stick, and stop promoting competitors on your page.

And you will get their upgrade package, they'll call 2-3 times a day from unique phone numbers pretending to be a promising lead, just to pull something like "I don't know, I'd be more comfortable working with you if you had a premium Yelp page".
