[AMA] - I Own an Online Casino, Ask me Anything

congrats on keeping it running since 2023!

Quick question on the tech stack side since your main focus is acquisition: Did you guys start out on a standard White Label contract, or did you go Turnkey/API-first with a modular PAM from the start?

Curious how much flexibility your platform provider actually gives you when you need to hook up custom crypto gateways or spin up tailored promo logic for your acquisition campaigns without waiting in a 3-month dev queue.
Not OP, but turnkey gives you way more freedom than white label. WLs completely lock you in, so anytime you want to route custom PSPs or push a quick promo, you're stuck waiting on their dev queue.

We looked at softswiss and slotegrator back when we started, but went with a modular turnkey setup from nuxgame instead. Mainly because their API let us hook up our own crypto gateways while keeping game aggregation under one hood.

That said, don't buy into the hype that $100k handed to a vendor solves everything. Doesn't matter if you run on nuxgame, betconstruct, or softswiss- if you don't have a solid team handling traffic, compliance, and dead payment routes daily, you'll still burn through your cash fast.

The amount of people going into this field without any prior experience in the grey market is alarming.

If you take the average white label set up fee and marketing, you'll need around minimum 25k euro - 50k euro investment at first. Then another budget for marketing.

You'll need to wait at least 6 months to get an MGA license, these days.

You're better off buying an MGA license & company.

Hey guys,

I don't know how many people here are interested in casino operations and making money with them, but I'm going on a short holiday next week and will have extra time to answer any questions people had about gambling operations.

In short about me; 20 years in digital marketing, out of that 10 within the iGaming industry. The casino that we have has been operational since 2023.

I say "we" because I am not the sole owner, it's a team of 5 where each of us took ownership of their own respective areas, with my responsibility being generating traffic/acquisition.

I'll wait for at least 5 questions to accumulate and then answer everything in one go.
Since acquisition is your area – what's actually driving most of your player volume these days? Curious whether the bulk still comes from affiliates/rev-share deals or if paid and SEO are pulling real weight now that most ad platforms won't touch gambling directly.

And on retention: what's your rough split between reactivating existing players vs constantly buying new ones? Feels like that ratio is where casinos quietly live or die.

How is your main way to acquire your players? SEO, social media, paid ads, influencers or what?

People rarely start off with their own platform, there's just so many things that can go wrong, it's easier to just go with a third party platform, pay the fees, and do your job.

This also means that anything that is exotic or not native to the platform will have a long dev queue. For an example, in the first 9 months we didn't had ERC20 USDT.

I would say PPC and organic is where the biggest value lies.

I don't deal that much with retention, but I would say that the first 5 months are crucial.
