Best Low Competition Niches for New Beginners on X for 2027?

Let’s get this conversation going. This is part of my continuing series on what works and what doesn’t on X, formerly known as Twitter.

I have tried to build an account that is focused on politics with a little bit of entertainment mixed in in my experience. Sadly this was a bad choice as I did not see any real growth from posting on a daily basis for six months. My follower count was going up and down, up and down. My research has found that this is a widespread problem in the politics and entertainment industries because of the high volume of bots.

So I ask you this – if you had to start from scratch with 0 followers – what niche would you pick that you think will still be relevant in 2027?

I'd probably pick AI or personal finance. Both have strong long-term interest, but I'd focus on a specific angle instead of trying to cover everything.

The finance area is excellent because everybody is interested in increasing their wealth. Personally, I believe I'll hold off on the AI trend at the moment since it seems too early. Each time I hear something about AI, I am reminded of NFTs, which have recently fallen out of the spotlight.

What other niche do you think will be big in 2027?
 
I'd pick a niche I actually enjoy instead of chasing trends. The "best" niche won't matter much if you burn out after a few months.
 
@curdoc has a point about burnout but I'd add something on top of that... whatever niche you pick, look at whether the audience actually spends money before you commit. Big audience means nothing if nobody in it buys anything. Finance and health both tick that box, ai is hit or miss depending on the angle.

The other thing people forget is format matters as much as niche. Same finance content dies as plain text but does numbers as short breakdowns or screenshots. So pick something you can post consistently without hating it, then figure out the format that travels.

And yeah politics/entertainment is rough, not just bots but the engagement is loud and worthless for building anything you can monetize later.
 
I’d pick a niche where people actively need solutions, like AI finance health or skills trends change, but useful content always has demand.
 
X is a virtual sewer, be another dick spreading ragebaits, fake news, toxic shit...at this point I don't believe in anything positive in that garbage, any niche is toxic as hell, if you want to discuss finance, you will only find gurus, scammers and liars, if you want to discuss self improvement, another ton of bots promoting affiliate links or telegram gurus, if you want to discuss about AI, well, 99% are bots. Pick one of them and good luck

Still, there is a lot of scope, but you should know how to completely ignore all these! It's a MUST!

Yeah bro, and we don't even need to mention politics, religion or sports, which are crazily toxic
Even finance, crypto, self improvement, those niches are also quite toxic and full of scammers, gurus and ragebaiters
For my mental health, i prefer to close this door and focus on other opportunities
 
Six months in politics with nothing to show for it is basically a rite of passage at this point, RIP. I'd go the boring-but-evergreen route — productivity, self-hosting, some oddly specific hobby — because those people actually reply instead of just scrolling past. Do you think it was really the niche that killed your growth, or the format?
 
The bottleneck is not the niche but the creation of unique content. Everyone keeps searching for helpful content that upgrades their business or prevents some kind of damage.

For example, if you have 10 websites, sharing results after trying new features or algorithm influences is enough to draw attention. You'll even be cited by major media in SEO niche. If you have experience in SaaS, then post content like "it took me 2 years to grow a SaaS in 2017 but with AI it took only 4 months."

For politics, you should strictly stick to an entity but not to ideologies. If you support a party, all its followers rally behind you but when you post something against it, most of them will leave triggering algorithm to reduce your overall reach. That's a dead end.

Instead of thinking about niches that work, think about content that you can generate.
 
the importance of the content is prioritized, so it is better to focus on niche area that one is passionate about.

Great point you have raised here. Well, the reason why I chose the niche of politics and entertainment is because there is something trending daily. However, I have come to learn that the point you made "most of them will leave triggering algorithm to reduce your overall reach" is correct. This has occurred several times to me; I made a comments on posts which got more than 200K impressions and 10K likes, yet I only gained 30 followers from this comment left. Hence, you are absolutely right about that. It's all about creating content that gives solutions and value to people searching on the web, but doing and get it right is an entirely different ball game.

I would stop you if I know you are doing this six months ago, I bet its near 0 interactives each post, because I did similar things for 1-2 week, and I know its not gona work.

I personally figured out X is only suitable for funny videos, Cat, Dog, human failures, very stunning contents, porn, art.

That's almost all the niches that would work...

How was your experience in the Art niche did you have any success?
 
By 2027, AI will no longer be a trend but a mandatory skill. User X will be extremely eager for how-to articles, tool guides, and workflows that apply AI. Focus on leaving valuable, in-depth comments (replies) on posts from major accounts in your niche.
 
If you have to start from scratch to aim for the 2027 milestone, you could try creating a thread that compiles tools, comparisons, and step-by-step guides.
