biggest mistake is treating linkedin like fb just posting random stuff
I believe that the biggest mistake people make is treating LinkedIn as a medium where one need to shout and not connect. Individuals keep posting all the time without offering any meaning full comment or contacting other individuals for meaningful connections. It is often better to have fewer people with more genuine discussions.I have seen plenty of advice about what to do on LinkedIn, but not as much discussion about what people should avoid.
In your opinion, what is the most common mistake people make that holds back their growth or opportunities on LinkedIn?
It could be something related to their profile, content, networking, or overall approach. I think hearing real experiences could help a lot of people avoid the same mistakes.
ok but like how do you even balance thoughtful commenting at scale tho?? cause if your trying to network consistantly AND post regularly AND engage meaningfully on other peoples content — that litteraly sounds like a full time job on its own?? like is there a point where you have to choose wich one to prioritize or is the whole thing only sustainable if you go all in on all three at once??People focus on broadcasting instead of building real conversations commenting thoughtfully and networking consistently which is what actually drives visibility and opportunities. Biggest mistake is treating LinkedIn only as a static resume or posting self promotion without engagement.
The other thing that I notice is when individuals keep on changing their profile title, banner and bio but totally disregard their profile analytics. When there are no clicks on ur profile even after posting something on your page, it is not neccessarily about the content. By analysing the posts which get people to click on your profile and make a connection, you learn a lot.I have seen plenty of advice about what to do on LinkedIn, but not as much discussion about what people should avoid.

One of the mistakes I think people make without realising it is trying to construct a professional image rather than exhibiting professional thought processes. Profiles tend to be full of accomplishiments and general wisdom, but it lacks personality, experience and true insight into opinion. people that seems unique to me tend to share their experiences, both successes and failures as well as smaller insights. People connect more on LinkedIn when they feel they were speaking with a person rather than a profile.I have seen plenty of advice about what to do on LinkedIn, but not as much discussion about what people should avoid.
