Are you still able to profit from eBay?

While I haven’t been able to list any items for quite some time, I have been thinking about it lately
For those who are still selling on eBay, what has changed compared to previous years? And is it still possible to make a decent income if you know what you are doing?
I would like to read other opinions to get an idea myself.

It might be still profitable but tbh imo its not worthing going in that direction.

I would just go on to doing ecom if so.

ebay is definitely way harder now than it was a few years ago. @PrinceZ has a point about general ecom, but you gotta remember ebay still has that built-in buyer intent, whereas with shopify you are burning cash on ads to get any traction.

the biggest change lately is how aggressive they got with account verification and banning retail arbitrage. if you are trying to do the old school amazon-to-ebay play, you will get flagged fast. managed payments also made stealth accounts a massive headache to set up.

it is still possible to make decent money but you need a real supplier or be ready to constantly warm up accounts. its more of a grind now for sure.

@CloudMerchant is right about the stealth headache. Ever since they switched to managed payments, you cant just throw up a basic account with a fake name and a random paypal. You need real docs or aged accounts that already have history. But that barrier to entry is actually a good thing because it keeps out the low effort spam... If you can get a solid setup with an antidetect browser and clean residential ips, there is still money to be made. You just have to treat it like a real operation now instead of a quick cash grab.
